Organic Acrobatics in Mexico City

This workshop intends to create a self-coherent structure of practicing dance, while addressing elements of all stages of complexity (of a varying range of complexity).

An equal amount of attention is given to body conditioning, dance technique, improvisational tools, performativity, usage of space and time, the voice as part of our dance and interaction between performers.

Through all the stages of the work, engagement and awareness are constantly challenged by compelling the practitioners to constantly seek connections between the material proposed and their own experience, between themselves and the others, between action and impulse, between the what and the why, all during an intense physical work.

The unfolding of the class oscillates between two modes; one is challenging ourselves to surpass the limits if our current potential and the other is allowing for the information to settle, becoming an organic part of our dance.

A close-knit group dynamic is constructed throughout the practice, owing to but also resulting in the work being heavily based on the exchange of input, support and information. Enjoyment throughout the process of working with our bodies and other’s bodies is strongly encouraged, as a way to facilitate learning and as a goal in itself.
